Delegations from CICA member states, including Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Mongolia, India, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and Palestine, are participating in the conference alongside representatives of the CICA Secretariat.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, noted that “circular green tourism” represents one of the important emerging approaches shaping the future development of the tourism sector. He stated that Azerbaijan has already taken significant steps towards sustainable tourism development, including the establishment of ecotourism and agrotourism as tourism segments and the development of nature-based tourism routes. Fuad Nagiyev also emphasized that the conference would contribute to strengthening cooperation among CICA countries and establishing new partnerships.

In his remarks, Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of CICA, emphasized that the “Circular Green Tourism in the CICA Countries” initiative contributes to the development of sustainable and environmentally responsible tourism in the region. He noted that tourism is not only an economic sector but also an important platform for cultural dialogue and strengthening trust. He further highlighted the importance of the conference as the final stage of the project, providing an opportunity to present its outcomes and share best practices.

Discussions held as part of the conference will focus on creating new opportunities for local communities through the establishment of tourism villages, support mechanisms for local initiatives, grant programmes, training activities, and investment in nature-based tourism products.
